Rengoku spin-off stories to be released in Weekly Shonen Jump
Comic Natalie reported today that the manga series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba continues to make manga history with 100 million copies of the series released (which includes the digital version) when the 22nd volume arrives on October 2. This puts the series at the same sales milestone as Attack on Titan, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and Astro Boy.
Furthermore, it was also announced that the previously reported that 'Rengoku Volume 0,' which is being given out as a bonus for filmgoers to the upcoming Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba THE MOVIE Mugen Train will be previewed in the 44th issue of Weekly Volume Jump, which releases in Japan on October 5. The preview will have 19 pages of the one-shot, that tells the story of the Flame Hashira's first mission with the Demon Slayer Corps from series creator Koyoharu Gotouge. The 45th issue of Weekly Volume Jump will feature a side-story one-shot focused on Kyojuro Rengoku from Ryoji Hirano, who previously did the side-story one-shot focused on the Water Hashira Giyu Tomioka.
This year alone Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has sold 80 million copies, which alone would make it one of the best selling manga series in history. Usually, One Piece takes the top slot every year of copies sold, with 10,134,232 copies sold last year, but Demon Slayer upended that in 2019 by taking the top slot at 12,057,628 copies sold. This year alone is nearly 8 times that. Poor Gotouge and her taxes for this year!
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba THE MOVIE Mugen Train opens in Japan on October 16, as a sequel to the TV anime, which is streaming right now on Crunchyroll!
